There are more than one million new homes “start” in the United States each year, but only a small proportion of homes specially designed. It’s a sad thing. Your home is the biggest single investment most people make their living. Your house has a big influence on you and your family. This is not just an object, it was your house. You occupy this environment and interact with a larger portion for your life than anywhere else. And we are all shaped and influenced by our environment.

“But I can not afford traditional home design,” you said. Well that maybe so, but even if you choose the standard plan or choose a plan from a book on home design, you can make better choices and understand what your perfect home can learn a little about what constitutes good design. You need to raise your awareness level.

As an architect I am often asked, what is most important considerations when you design a house? In my opinion, the only one of the most important quality is that there should be a plan purposefulness. In order to achieve this, the house plan you must have a theme or main concept as the core of the design plan. This should lend the organization, and flow, to plan your home.

The most direct and simple method of organizing the plan is often the best. One that I’ve used as the basis of many plans is the classic “four-square plan.” The main form of the house is a square, with a fuse that serves as a connector. This is the idea used in the classic “Georgia Style” home. The main room of the house is in every corner of the box, with a hallway and stairs as the center acts as a link between rooms on same floor. The top floor will also have the same pattern in the corner of the bedroom, bathroom down the hall. As you walk through the house like this, the spaces feel right because they organized in a way that makes sense.

Take a look at a typical house plan. Will probably have some of this goals the organization as the underlying concept. Perhaps living room in a wider area, such as in the waiting room. Appliances may curve, or go to the center axis. You may find a larger space in the back which is still compatible with an organized plan. Try to think about how you want to adjust the room together and make the flow space in an orderly way.

Other organizing concept is more complex, and perhaps that’s right for you. Thoughtful planning will help you arrive at a meaningful, floor plans and objectives. No matter what, you need a home design plan that meets your needs. A house may be complex and expensive, but without a plan with integrity and unity, it would not feel right. You want to feel calm, content and happy in your home. Design your home with a plan that targeted your home to be very suitable for your family.
