Remodeling a Small Bathroom Designs With a Glass Block Shower Wall and Base
Small bathroom renovations and creating a functional space and the cold can be difficult. Frankly there are many products and options that do not want to go into a small space. You might have assumed if you want to install a glass block shower wall in the small bathroom that was impossible – but think again. Even if you have a standard size tub or shower combination with a small soaking tub – you can change your room to include a glass block shower.
This article will provide 8 ½ steps to guide you on how to remodel a small bathroom and still have room for a shower and a block basis.
Step 1 – Measure the size of the bathroom, bathtub and shower areas and create an image – Small space planning begins with the first planning and design – with no extra space to spare you have to make ever-inch count. Measure the tub or shower, vanity, toilet and closet-put a tape measure in all things and then get some graph paper (or computer program if you have one) and plot out what they are today. The good news is if you have a standard tub (the most common bath ranged from 60 “x 30″ to 60 “x 34″) or a standard shower / tub combinations (some rainfall ranging from 36 “x 36″ to 40 “x 40″ ) will have glass block shower stall for your choice.
Step 2 – Determine whether the existing layout, appearance and function of the shower to work and develop a first-cut picture of your new design is now time to get rid of all that great, big, rarely used, does not work or just plain ugly. Try to get more efficient with the space surrounding the existing tub / shower. Futility is too big? Could it be replaced with a sink base? A bathroom renovation project at Cleveland recently made this change with dramatic results. Existing cabinets can be replaced with open shelves? Can you buy a small toilet that is located closer to the existing wall?
Also see the bathtub and / or shower areas to see if they were in the right place for you (if you can keep the channel and shower in the same location will save money).
Ensure that drains and shower heads are working correctly. If you need to replace the shower valve, head or drain assembly will now be the time to do this.
Decide whether you want to replace the bath with a walk in the bathroom or shower with the door. A walk in the design to determine whether you want to enter from the right or left. (Note: for the door-less design you will usually need about 58 “wide or more to make this option working). Develop a new pencil drawing of what you want your room to look like and draw the approximate size and design (straight, curved, or italics) of the new block glass shower wall.
Be sure to consider the type of floor and wall materials that you want when you’re done. A tile floor and shower walls generally have a more luxurious feeling of acrylic walls and base for the shower block. Tile is usually more expensive, but there are a lot more size options are ready to tile with acrylic base of the preformed base block (which is only available in standard sizes and shapes).
Step 3 – Get the input bath design your bathroom, living far from “Uncle Louie,” and finish your design, consult with a professional bathroom renovation and / or block the installation contractors on design and try to get a rough sense of the project costs. Asking them for specific ideas to keep costs down while maintaining or improving your design. Be sure to think about what bathroom accessories you might like – a bath Caddies, bench seats, shampoo and soap niche, leg edges, etc.
Away from your well-intentioned “Uncle Louie” or another friend or family member who claimed himself as a builder because they have done 1 bathroom a few years ago.
Your skills and consider what aspects of the project that you might want to do yourself and where you have to contract out. To shower you can order premade glass block walls and ready for a shower tile base to improve the quality of finish, but the board still allows you to save money by doing your own field work as it yourselfer or small contractor.
Step 4 – Order of the bath and shower base premade glass block wall assembly – Order premade shower base and walls to the right size, shape and design of your plan. Be sure to get the basic and pans are designed to work with your particular block shower wall. Also consider the cut, colored and frosted glass block to add style and interest in the bath.
Step 5 – Let the dust began – Delete an existing or bath, rot or bad every wall and re-doing plumbing – Cut the tub or shower there and poorly performing, or see the walls and trim. When needed – to move or repair the pipe valves, shower heads or water channels.
Step 6 – Adjust or building a shower base – To tile shower pan or base to consider using a premade base expanded polystyrene. Basic can be installed in 30 minutes or less with a basic set of thin wood subfloor with mortar set up and connect the channels (the other option is to build a mud bottom of the pot is often set very time consuming and requires a higher level of construction expertise). For the base you put the glass acrylic shower base block in the bed and install a mortar in vain.
Step 7 – Build your interior walls of a shower – Install good moisture resistant wallboard or water resistant material around the walls of the bathroom. If possible choose a shower base where the wallboard material is positioned to the inside of a shower base to eliminate water leakage problems in the future. Install your wall finishing materials (tile, acrylic, granite, cultured marble, etc.) in the bathroom.
Step 8 – Installing your premade glass block wall – This is a two-day process. On day 1 set of prefabricated glass block wall at the base and anchor them to the sides (jambs) every 24 “(minimum) using a pile of vinyl installation systems. In the field of nat-day assembly 2 blocks together.
Step 8 ½ – If your project has been shaking your boots – Do not think you have to do this project all alone. If you like the idea of a glass block shower wall in a small bathroom but not a remodeling contractor and do not play one on TV consider hiring an expert to solve them right the first time for you.
Now that you’re equipped with these 8 1 / 2 steps you are ready to design and order a glass block shower walls and base to project a small bathroom renovation.
